Award Description: The CIP award will address an array of medical issues and the needed capital improvements that accompany those issues. The serviced population comes with a high incidence of tuberculosis and COPD concerns. Specialty clinics staffed by volunteer physicians offer orthopedic care that is also needed among this target population. X-ray services are often required to provide comprehensive care to the patients seen at the health center. The project will will seek to renovate space to accomodate the addition of X-ray services, equipment purchases and the necessary support staff. The addition will create a more efficeint method of accessing complete care for patients and eliminate the difficulties presented by traveling X-ray services. This addition will also increase the effectiveness and quality of care by providing prompt results and allowing for the early diagnosis and treatment of consumers.

Project Description: The project will enhance services with supplies and updated equipment to be utilized at all sites in the scope of services. It will also enhance services available through the renovation of space for an X-ray room, the purchase of and X-ray machine and the addition of supoort staff in the way of an X-ray Tech. The expansion will increase the quality and timeliness of care available to homeless patients, support primary care and specialty care and cut down on wait times for x-rays. This is more than just a convenience to our homeless patients but gives a feeling of added self-worth. Transportaion issues and the time used to access quality health care act as significant barriers to health care for homeless individuals and their affected families. This project removes these barriers and provides not only necessary health care but a firm foundation for advancing in life.

Jobs Summary: There have been no jobs created. However, once the Capital Project is completed there will be one full time X-ray technician hired. (Total jobs reported: 0)

Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
