Award Description: T.H.E. (To Help Everyone) Clinic, Inc. (THE) will increase its efficiency and ability to serve its community through two projects: an equipment purchase of a new telephone system; and a organization wide implementation of EHR at its clinical site on Western Ave. in Los Angeles. These projects will increase care to the community, improve efficiency, improve quality of care and patient outcomes in the following manner: the new system with IP technology will enable effortless communication, seamless transfers, conferences, pickups. This improved communication system will increase productivity and patients? satisfaction as calling parties connect with the right people faster. T.H.E. Clinic will also use it for automated reminder calls to patients about their appointments, the services available and the list of documentation required at the time of visit. This ensures that patient flow during operating hours is seamless, allowing the clinic to provide primary and preventive health care services to more medically underserved people in Los Angeles. The EHR project covers the cost of acquiring an EHR system that is certified by the Certifying Commission on Health Information Technology (CCHIT). The system will facilitate prescription writing, health maintenance tracking especially for patients with chronic conditions, easier access to patient information and production of charts, better interface with our billing and scheduling system. This purchase includes the software, the hardware, the computers and the auxiliary equipment. Staff training as well as the new and retained positions necessary for a successful implementation are included. This will greatly enhance the ability of THE to take advantage of EHR efficiencies and expedite the conduct of quality assurance activities.
