Award Description: Substantial Amendment to Fiscal Year 2008 /2009 Action Plan under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (CDBG-R) for Volusia County in the CDBG program funding. CDBG-R projects are: (1) City of Daytona Beach Shores - Public Infrastructure ? Replacement of 20 year old sidewalk with ADA compliant sidewalks. Remove obstacles within the sidewalks including signs, benches and any other items within the right-of-way. Implementation of a demonstration project to provide a standardized identification of crosswalks, bus stops and other common roadway elements for the visually handicapped. (2) City of Edgewater - Public Infrastructure Improvements Water/Sewer Improvements ? Reconstruction of a 1963 lift station to include above ground controls and equipment to provide two 25hp pumps for redundancy and by-pass capabilities - 325 N. Riverside Drive @ Merrimac Street (3) City of S. Daytona - Public Infrastructure Improvements Water/Sewer Improvements ? Installation of Potable Water system which will eliminate unregulated drinking water and installation of Fire Hydrants ? Sheri Boulevard, Palm View Drive, and Cutters Way in its entirety, as funding allows.

Project Description: Stimulate the economy through measures that modernize the infrastructure through various projects throughout the County of Volusia: Sidewalk Installation - Improvement to ADA compliance in Daytona Beach Shores will benefit the elderly residents and the visually impaired in the area. Water/Sewer Improvement - The Lift Station Replacement in Edgewater will benefit over 8,000 residents living in the surrounding area and improve the level of service and allow by-passing of sewage in the event of a malfunction. Water/Sewer Improvement - Potable Water Main and Fire Hydrant Installation in South Daytona - will benefit approximately 250 residents along various streets in the low-income eligible area.

Jobs created, through the city of Daytona Beach Shores, by hiring a specific contractor for the ADA installation of sidewalks and crosswalk devices. Currently in planning stages with the cities engineer (1) design specification/plans (2) fabrication of lift station.
