Award Description: Funds will support efforts to promote long term economic benefits for the state by planning for the provision of water resources. The State of Georgia will complete analytical modeling tools and generate data on assimilative capacity for selected waterbodies in the Chattahoochee River Basin. Existing water data will be compiled and used in models to develop a sound scientific understanding of the condition of water resources, to assess the assimilative capacity of the waters, and to ensure the physical, chemical and biological integrity of the waters. The project will allow the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to assist regional planning councils as they prepare Water Development and Conservation Plans.
