Award Description: This award is for the State of Alaska to capitalize its revolving fund for the financing of construction of drinking water infrastructure facilities, green infrastructure, loan program administration and drinking water program related activities. The primary purposes are to: preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery through the investment in infrastructure projects that will provide long term public health and economic benefit.
Project Description: ARRA funds will be used for drinking water infrastructure improvements to ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and the State?s drinking water rules. Green infrastructure will be added to water systems through use of energy saving technologies. Additionally, water conservation will be achieved through upgrade and replacement of distribution lines and components.
Infrastructure Description: This infrastructure investment will provide for the construction of public drinking water systems within the state of Alaska and stimulate the economy in both urban and rural Alaska by creating jobs and promoting economic recovery.
