Award Description: BJA FY 09 Recovery Act Rural Law Enforcement Assistance: Combating Rural Crime. The Assistance to Rural Law Enforcement to Combat Crime and Drugs Programs, administered by BJA, helps rural states and rural areas prevent and combat crime, especially drug-related crime, and provides for national support efforts including training and technical assistance programs strategically targeted to address rural needs.
Project Description: The Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) will use the grant funds to support the Technology Bureau in combating rural crime. The DPS Tehcnology Bureau will sponsor the project and coordinate with nine law enforcement agencies throught Nevada. The project goal is to have the date from these nine agencies available for search via N-Dex, all three Nevada Fusion Centers, the DPS Investigation Division, as well as for law enforcement agencies nationwide to have access to Nevada State, local, and tribal incidents. DPS will order applicable hardward for each agency and hire a contract programmer and a contract systems specialist who will work with each of the nine agencies, providing data extraction programs which will be sent through the DPS data center's Criminal Justice Information System connection to N-DEX.
