Award Description: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) was awarded $483,825 to fund its Neighborhood Crime Reduction program under Category IV: Hiring of Civilian Staff in Law Enforcement. The grant money will be used to fund four (4) crime analyst positions. These civilian staff members will work closely with the sergeants responsible for developing neighborhood crime reduction strategies in each of the CMPD?s 39 Response Areas. They will ensure that these sergeants have the information necessary to create data-driven strategies and deployment plans for their small areas of the city.
Project Description: This grant was recently awarded and accepted by City Council on 9/28/09. Four (4) Crime Analysts will be hired in the next reporting period. The procurement process for the laptops for the Crime Analysts has been initiated.
