Award Description: The County of Hawaii's Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) was award CDBG-R funds to stimulate the economy through infrastructure activities that provide basic services to residents or activities that promote energy efficiency and conservation through rehaiblitation or retrofitting of existing buildings.
Project Description: Kamuela Elderly Housing - Solar Water Heating System -The non-profit Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation will utilize $215,000 of CDBG-R funds to design and install solar water heating systems to 31 one-bedroom bath units and 1 two bedroom one bath resident manager unit in the Kamuela Elderly Housing projects for low income seniors. Hospice of Hilo - In-Patient Facility Site Improvements - The non-profit Hospice of Hilo will utilize $367,628 of CDBG-R funds along with private funds to continue to construct on and off site infrastructure improvements to comply with local building and fire codes.
