Award Description: RECOVERY ACT RESEARCH Experience for undergratduates collaborating with the Goddard Institute for Space Studies Center for Global Climate Research

Project Description: The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site program, a collaboration between CUNY and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) at Columbia University, focuses on geo-science, Sun-Earth interaction, atmospheric science and global climate impacts. Some topics of study include: characterizing ozone distribution and transport in the lower troposphere; measuring atmospheric aerosols in an urban environment; a wetland carbon project; and urban heat-island research. Ten students will be recruited each year and at least five placed at the Institute.
