Award Description: On 5/30/2009 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded Catalyst Architecture, LLC a contract to provide planning, design, construction management and inspection services for a new Administrative Headquarters and Visitor Center for the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Merced County, California. This much-needed facility is anticipated to combine 11,000 square feet of Administrative space with 4,800 square feet of Visitors Center space into one building. The new facility will replace the present 7,797 square feet of offices, which are undersized for the present staff of 23 permanent full-time employees and 15 temporary employees, and are inadequate for the anticipated need of up to 39 employees. The existing facility is not conducive to efficient use, resulting in redundant equipment requirements, less than ideal communications, lower than desired morale, and higher than necessary utility costs. The new facility will improve management efficiencies by locating the staff on the Refuge, enabling a growing staff to better manage wildlife, habitat and public use. The significant deliverables within each phase of this contract are as follows. Design Development Project Programming/Info.
