Award Description: ARRA COLA and Quality Improvement Funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640(a)(5) of the Head Start Act
Project Description: Project Description – Head Start ARRA COLA and Quality Funds will be used to: o Grant a 1.84 percent increase in salary to eligible employees for a 12-month period o Funds to adjust salaries of Educational and Family Service Personnel o Funds to provide more training opportunities to improve staff skills and certifications o Funds to restore the .5 percent reduction to the retirement plan due to budget restraints o Funds to increase other staff within 90 percent of the median hourly wage for respective positions o Employ a Bilingual Coordinator o Employ an additional Full-time Warehouse Clerk o One additional work week has been added to the budget for Coordinators and Central Office Support Clerks o Funds to purchase two 35-passenger buses o Funds to purchase two Explorer Playground Structures o Funds to purchase developmentally appropriate educational supplies o Funds to update and improve the parking lot at Annie Devine Center o Funds to facelift Bryant Turner and New Hope Center o Funds to replace the roof at King Star Center o Purchase playground covers at various sites Early Head Start ARRA COLA and Quality Funds will be used to o Grant a 1.84 percent increase in salary to eligible employees for a 12-month period o Funds to adjust salaries of Caregivers and Case o Workers o Funds to provide more training opportunities to improve Early Head Start staff skills and certifications o Funds to restore the .5 percent reduction to the retirement plan due to budget restraints o Funds to increase other staff within 90 percent of the median hourly wage for their respective position Quarterly Activities o All staff received a 1.84% cost of living adjustment effective August 3, 2009 o Purchase order was issued for two (2)-36 passenger buses.
