Award Description: This grant award provides funds from the Recovery Act to support the provision of services to victims of crime.
Project Description: This grant award provides funds to enhance crime victim services in the state. March 19, 2009 ? The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency?s Office of Victims? Services (OVS) submitted a grant application in the amount of $1,323,000 to the Office for Victims of Crime in response to the Recovery Act ? OVC FY09 VOCA Victim Assistance Formula Grant Program solicitation. April 24, 2009 ? OVS received official notice that the grant application was approved and was awarded the full amount of the request. May 2009 ? OVS reviewed sub-recipient applications applying for ARRA VOCA funding. June 3, 2009 ? The Victims? Services Advisory Committee recommended approval of 6 ARRA VOCA applications. June 9, 2009 ? The PCCD Commission approved the award of 6 ARRA VOCA applications. July 1, 2009 ? ARRA VOCA sub-recipients began project implementation providing services to victims of crime. July ? September 2009 - OVS staff members provides technical assistance to ARRA VOCA sub-recipients as needed. At the sub -ecipient level the following activities occurred July - September 2009: Provided support services for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and other violent crime including advocacy, court accompaniment, assistance with crime victims? compensation, and counseling services including support groups for adults and children.
