Award Description: FY09 Recovery Act Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Compensation Formula Grant Program. This program pays expenses and losses to or on behalf of individual victims of violent crime. These expenses and losses include medical, counseling, funeral bills and wage losses. The Alaska Crime Victim Compensation program successfully negotiates settlements with medical service providers on approximately 70% of all bills in excess of $5,000, resulting in tremendous cost savings and reduction in victim financial hardship
Project Description: The Alaska Crime Victim Compensation program pays expenses and losses to or on behalf of individual victims of violent crime. The Recovery Act VOCA funds wil provide additional funds with which to provide services to Alaska's innocent crime victims.
