Award Description: ARRA RHS Expansion: We are proposing to expand Head Start services with 18 children in Kent County and 16 children in Sussex County Delaware, both within our currently served area. We will serve the children in our existing centers Harrington (Kent County) and Laurel (Sussex County) where space is available. These will be center-based, part-day services (4 hours/day, 5 days/week, 160 days/year). We are seeking $243,542 in operating funds, with $91,200 in start-up for a 48 passenger bus and safety harnesses. We are asking for $10,500 in staff training funds as part of operating funds. The full range of Head Start services will be provided. The timeline for implementation would be children will be served within sixty days of notification of the award, allowing time to hire and train staff as well as complete enrollments on children. This funding will create the following new positions: 2 teachers, 1 Bus Driver, 1 Bus Monitor, 1 Program Development Coordinator, 1 part-time Health Aide. We would also be moving three staff from part-time to full-time: a Family Service Worker and two Assistant Teachers. We will allocate a small portion of supervisory and management team time to support this expansion.
