Award Description: The COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire career law enforcement officers in an effort to create and preserve jobs, and to increase their community policing capcity and crime prevention efforts.
Project Description: The department has interviewed and offered 19 canditates positions related to this award. Those 19 candidates will begin their academy training during the months of September and October 2009 with an estimated completion date for all candidates of January 2010. Once the officers return to the department to begin their Patrol Training Program, they will complete 14 weeks of department specific training. After they have completed their patrol Training, they will begin to focus on thier specific assignments/assigned units in one of the category's approved for this grant's funding.
Jobs Summary: 19 total officers have been offered positions with funds from this grant award. To date, 11 officers have begun employment. When all 19 officers have been hired, they will be assigned as follows: Two (2) officers assigned to Tourism Oriented Policing, Seven (7) officers assigned to Community Action Teams, Seven (7) officers assigned to Beat Integrity, and Three (3) officers assigned to Support Services. (Total jobs reported: 1)
