Award Description: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Port Security Grant Program (ARRA PSGP).
Project Description: This investment has not been started. This project is to purchase and integrate 24 TWIC capable biometric readers for perimeter access to this major port facility as well as 4 gates arms with biometric capability. This will include automated TWIC hot list integration for entry. This also includes one security officer to audit truck drivers and employees as they enter the facility. Finally, this investment is to purchase and hard plastic TWIC holders with laminate and lanyard for 5,000 system users. Experience has shown that the TWIC can be damaged electronically by flexing it or even placing it in a wallet and sitting on it. If the TWIC must be relied upon to work in the proximity mode, it must be protected.
Jobs Summary: This number is expected to increase next quarter. There have been no funds distributed yet and discussions have included planning and preparing to order the parts and labor in October/November. A job creation of 0.50 FTE is included for the discussions that have taken place. The investment is to purchase and integrate 24 TWIC capable biometric readers for perimeter access to this major port facility will include automated TWIC hot list integration as well as TWIC biometric match for entry. This includes employment of one software integrator, one systems technician and one security officer to audit performance of truck drivers and employees as they enter the facility. This project will create three local jobs plus the jobs required to manufacture the hardware and create the updated software for system integration in New York and Rockledge Florida.
