Award Description: H.I.T.S. Highway and Interstate Traffic Safety The goal and objectives of the Highway and Interstate Traffic Safety (HITS) Team are quite simple. The goal of this project is to preserve American jobs and help promote economic recovery in the United States. The objectives for this project include: ? To purchase American made equipment and supplies from American companies so the economic benefits are felt right away. ? To implement an aggressive traffic enforcement team that utilizes un-marked vehicles during their tour of duty. ? To prevent traffic crashes and injuries in the interstate construction zone along Interstate 65 by modifying driver behavior and eliciting voluntary compliance with the traffic laws.
