Award Description: The goal of the Baltimore County Police Department's Recovery Act Formula Grant program is to serve and protect the citizens of Baltimore County, Maryland through enhancement of its law enforcement services. The Department will hire and train six new forensic positions to process an increasing amount of evidence that is a result of additional manpower being dedicated to the investigation of violent crimes in the county, and hire three sworn officers to investigate Cyber Crimes. Funds will also be utilized to purchase enhanced technologies that will improve efficiency and capabilities within Department operations.
Project Description: The Department has initiated the hiring process for six forensic positions in accordance with Baltimore County Personnel Policy. Position descriptions have been determined, authorization to hire has been approved and job opening announcements have been posted. The Department has also initiated the hiring process for three sworn officer positions. These positions will be used to backfill vacancies created by assignment of officers to a new Cyber Crimes Team that will investigate internet crimes and crimes using electronic media.
