Award Description: Conduct moderization activities at various Public Houing developments (All of AMP 1 and a portion of AMP 2). This funding can be expected to resulting in providing employment for individuals working in heating and cooling industry as installers, tin knockers, crane operators, steel and freon recyclers and product manufactures. In addition, this funding will help modernize, update and make energy efficient the major energy consuming system in the housing units in this jurisdiction. During this project our PHA anticipates replacing 165 HVAC units to include all thermostats and some accessory components. Based on available data, and depending on the size of the housing unit and temperture settings, the new 13 SEER energy efficient units should save residents between $20 to $125 per month on their current heating and cooling bills. The new units will have a two year warrenty and will save the PHA maintenance costs associated with maintaining the HVAC units during this period of time.
Project Description: Project includes the replacement of HVAC units on each individual dwelling unit. Buildings consist of single family, duplex, triplex, and quad configurations. Each unit is individually controled by the tenant. For the reporting period ending Sept. 30, 2009, 112 HVAC units have been replaced with new energy efficient HVAC units at three different apartment sites and some single family scattered sites dwellings. This represents 68% of the project being completed.
