Award Description: Grant funds will be used to provide cost-of -living adjustment increase of 1.84% in the amount of 102,417 for Head Start and $30,685 for Early Head Start staff. These funds will be used for staff salaries, fringe, or increase operating costs. In addition quality improvement funds of $318,971 for Head Start and $79,982 for Early Head Start will be used to increase salaries for caregivers, teacher assistants, custodians, bus drivers,cooks and cook assistants. The quality funds will also be used to upgrade playgrounds and centers and provide additional training for educational staff.
Project Description: Community Action For Improvement, Inc. is committed to the employees who are responsible for implementing the standards of high quality for our Head Start/Early Head Start Progam. In order to ensure our continued success in maintaining qulity, the staff were compensated in accordance with the grant requirements. All Head Start/Early Head Start staff received an increase of 1.84% in their base salary. Family Service workers received an additional 6% increase and Teachers with AA degrees received an additional 6% increase. Other positions; Bus Drivers, Teacher Assistants, Custodians, Cooks and Cook Assistants received an additional 1% increase in their salaries. Also, two commercial lawn mowers and a trailer were purchased.
