Award Description: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act COLA wage adjustment award for 350 Head Start employees employed from July 01, 2009 through June 30, 2010. Quality Improvement funds for Head Start employees benefit improvement and contractual provision for a behavioral specialist for children of low income families with behaviorial problems in the classroom setting. The proportional allocation of the Quality Improvement funds will also secure dental services and facilities update.
Project Description: Increased hourly rate for 350 Head Start staff members. Retirement benefits were also increased from the period July 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. Provisions were made to contract a behavioral specialist for children of low income families with mild behaviorial problems to foster better success in school readiness.
