Award Description: Project Title: ' Identification of transamidated proteins involved in cell death induction.' 1) Administrative supplements as proposed in this award will accelerate the rate of scientific research.. Employing a new lab technician to purify cross-linked proteins and to operate the MALDI instrument improve and accelerate performing proposed research experiments. 2) Award will allow for the purchase of a MALDI-TOF MS instrument that will be used for protein identification. Project research will focus on the key steps for learning the early steps of apoptosis by transamidiation in identifyinh the cross-linked proteins.
Project Description: First Quarter: Hire of new lab technician; Purchase of new equipment (MALDI-TOF MS instrument); and Conducting research with students. Summary of the activities included in the parent grant that encompass proposed supplemental request. Parent Grant: Identification of transamidated proteins involved in cell death induction (1SC3GM086322-01): the principal investigator proposed the following objectives: 1) Induction of protein cross-linking by the active TG that has never been used in cellular transfection, 2) Identification of cross-linked motochondrial proteinsfrom the induced cells 3) Isolation of purification of cross-linked proteins from cells with high apoptosis indices.
