Award Description: The City of Slidell, through the police department, will utilize its Fiscal Year 2009 Recovery JAG award for police technology and communications improvements. The City of Slidell Police Department will implement a wireless mesh network in order to bring communication technology to thier officers in the filed. The police departmment's purchases will include firewall software, core router, 24 port 10/100/100BT switch, vehicle radio modems, and mobile data terminal vehicle mounts. This project will increase the amount of time each officer will have available for patrol, community policing and Homeland Security activities. It also enables us to keep up with public safety future demands by improving the Slidell Police Department's operating efficiency and performance. This award will improve and enhance law enforcement programs related to criminal justice.
Project Description: 1. System engineering/design activities are completed. 2. Project Statement/Scope of Work completed. 3. Contract signed with MOTOROLA to provide Vehicle Radio Modems. Equipment ordered, waiting for delivery. Funds encumbered. 5. Purchase requisition issued to Pelican Computer for Mobile Data Terminal Vehicle Mounts. Equipment ordered, waiting for delivery. Funds encumbered. 6. Purchase requsition issued to Sigma Solutions for Firewall, Router and Switch. Equipment ordered, waiting for delivery. Installation/Setup being scheduled. Funds encumbered. No invoices received at this time for payment.
