Award Description: The Award provides financial resources for collaboration between Allegan County District Court, Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office, Allegan Community Mental Health, the City of Allegan and Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. The Award will finance a Project Case Manager for Allegan County’s Problem Solving Court. The Problem Solving Court is a collaborative approach solution for offenders with mental health and substance abuse issues, with a goal of reducing crime and incarceration levels by using diversion options.
Project Description: The oversight Project Team has developed a Mental Health Policy & Procedures Manual and a Participants’ Manual. District Court has also secured from the State Court Administrative Office an approved order to establish a Mental Health Treatment Court. The Problem Solving Court has also employed through a Contract a Project Case Manager. The Problem Solving Court’s first day of operation was September 14, 2009.
