Award Description: Communities United, Inc. (CUI) is a Head Start and Early Head Start grantee. Award 01SE1002/01 was granted to CUI pursuant to Program Instruction ACF-PI-HS-09-06, and provides funding for Cost-of-Living Adjustments and Quality Improvement. Grant monies will be used to support staff retention, development and recruitment; improve classroom quality and family initiatives; and fund needed maintenance and repairs as well as shortfalls in transportation costs and general operating expenses.
Project Description: To improve prorgam quality, we performed much needed repairs and maintenance on Head Start and Early Head Start facilities for the start of the new school year. We also provided organization-wide skills training to equip all staff for success in their jobs for the new school year. ARRA funds were also used to help defray higher child transportion costs.
