Award Description: The Increased Demand for Services (IDS) funds were utilized to increase health center staffing by 2.80 FTE and extend hours of operation to include early morning hours Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 9:00 am and evening hours Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Crystal City and Wednesday, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in La Pryor, Texas. The additional 16 hours of extended operations is to provide porimary care services to those patient population such as migrants and seasonal farmworkers and the uninsured patients.
Project Description: The Increased Demand for Services (IDS) funds required an expenditure of $39,558.30 to support 2.33 FTE to provide primary care services during extended hours of operation (16 hours). The following IDS projection and actual impact is as follows: Total new patients 1,049 ? IDS projection 471 ? actual to date Total new uninsured patients 117 ? IDS projection 283 ? actual to date Total FTE created jobs 2.80 ? IDS projection 2.33 ? actual to date Total FTE retained 0 ? IDS projection 0 ? actual to date
Jobs Summary: The IDS funds have created 2.33 FTE jobs during this quarter as follows: 2.0 FTE certified medical assistants and .33 FTE physician assistants. The .33 FTE physician assistants are actually three physician assistants working on a contract basis to provide primary care service during the extended hours of operation. On November 2009 a .80 FTE physician assistant will start providing services on November 1, 2009, which would reflect the proposed 2.80 FTE. (Total jobs reported: 2)
