Award Description: AmeriCorps members will participate in conservation crew activities and environmental research internships.
Project Description: Nevada Conservation Corps hired 3 new staff members during the first quarter: 2 crew supervisors and 1 internship coordinator. 32 of 39 AmeriCorps member slots are filled. 27 are crew members serving on conservation crews. (This included 10 youth crew members (17-18 year olds) serving 300-hour summer of service terms and 17 adult crew members (19 and up) serving 450-hour summer of service terms. All AmeriCorps members are building trails or providing trail maintenance statewide. 5 AmeriCorps slots are interns at Western Folklife Center, White Pine County, University of Nevada Reno, Great Basin Resource Watch. Interns performing a variety of functions including event organization, education and outreach, research, park maintenance, and emergency response support.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained 32 AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and retained 3 AmeriCorps staff positions. (Total jobs reported: 11)
