Award Description: Highway Infrastructure Investment Grant: Available for Use in Any Area (flexible)
Project Description: This project is an intersection improvement in Gwinnett County. The purpose of this project is to improve the operating characteristics of the intersection of SR 8 (Lawrenceville Highway) and Pleasant Hill Road/Lester Road in Gwinnett County, just north of Lilburn. The project will begin approximately 0.43 miles west of Pleasant Hill Road on SR 8 and extend to the off ramps of Ronald Reagan Parkway, about 0.54 miles east of Pleasant Hill Road. Pleasant Hill Road north of SR 8 and Lester Road south of SR 8 will also require some reconstruction as part of the project. The work will place a median on SR 8 in place of the current two-way left turn lane and increase the number of left turn lanes at the intersection. The construction of a new Walmart facility in the project limits will add one new signal at its primary entrance and a new signal will be added at Berkmar School Road at Pleasant Hill Road.
