Award Description: The Highlands County Sheriff's Office was awarded $75,954 from the U.S. Department of Justice Recovery Act: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant Program to fund the project 'Mobile Computer Replacement.' Highlands County is located within an economically distressed region and the recent legislative events has made it difficult to compete for much needed funding for priorty public safety services. This project will replace 22+ existing mobile computers in law enforcement vehicles that have reached teh end of their useful life and exceeded the manufacturer warranty with 'toughbook' equivalent mobile computers.
