Award Description: A portion of the grant award will be allocated to Minnesota Safe Ride (the 'Sober Cab') which offers rides to intoxicated people from bars to their residence. This program has significantly reduced DWI crashes and arrests in Isanti County. The grant will help supplement this program in Isanti County by paying for the cost of gas and vehicle maintenance. The grant award will also be used to install notebook computers in two Sheriff Investigators' cars to assist in processing paperwork more efficiently. The Isanti County Probation Department will also receive a laptop computer to track individuals on probation. It is expected that the award will improve the efficiency of the public safety function in Isanti County.
Project Description: The grant was used to purchase two computers to ensure more efficient law enforcement in Isanti County. The grant was also sub-awarded to a local organization called Safe Ride Minnesota (also known as 'Sober Cab'). This will support the operation of Safe Ride Minnesota and have a direct impact on DWI incidents in the County.
