Award Description: The primary objective of the award through the COPS Office is to provide financial assistance to VCPI to carry out the public purpose of providing quality, cost-effective online training for the direct benefit of CHRP grantees through the CHRP eLearn Center. VCPI will develop and maintain the CHRP eLearn Center which will deliver both grants management and community policing training to a large number of agencies.
Project Description: VCPI staff conducted preliminary research, facilitated three discovery meetings at the COPS Office and dedicated a tremendous amount of time to drafting curriculum and supplemental video production and editing. Also, VCPI project coordinator interviewed subject matter experts and incorporated their input into the deliverable. VCPI hosted COPS project manager and included COPS peer review edits in the pre-production design documents. VCPI then created a sample production of Module 2 and presented it to COPS staff. VCPI project coordinator created a post product review template to be utilized during the peer review process and currently the first, 4-hour deliverable is in peer review at the COPS Office. VCPI has worked strategically to hit the expedited benchmarks placed by the COPS Office to have this resource available. The aggressive efforts and quality results will continue during the 4th quarter.
Jobs Summary: The project coordinator of the CHRP eLearn Center is a newly created position based on the award #2009RMWXK001. The coordinator has a demonstrated portfolio of contemporary elearning development, strong knowledge of adult learning principles and sound technical skills. These competencies were all critical for the incoming project coordinator. VCPI needed an experienced professional to join the team and move this project forward on it's aggressive schedule.
