Award Description: The majority of the parent grant and its successful continuation rely on using confocal microscopy, which is essential for achieving the goals of the project. However, the manufacturer of the 9-year-old LSM 510 microscope, Carl Zeiss MicroImaging, Inc., will not continue to cover the instrument under a service agreement unless the microscope is upgraded. Therefore, this supplement is to cover the cost of the necessary upgrade of the confocal microscope LSM 510. All funds will be used for the equipment upgrade.
