Award Description: Community Health. FluMist to be provided under the VFC program.
Project Description: MedImmune provides flu vaccine with the ARRA allocated funding. Through September 30, 2009, MedImmune has provided and invoiced for 396,690 doses (out of total 661,150 doses that will be provided under the terms of the ARRA modification) Note: As part of these shipments, MedImmune paid approximately $50,000 - $70,000 for packaging supplies and shipping associated with these doses to its vendors. Vendors include FedEx Express (shipping), FedEx Custom Critical (shipping), Cold Chain Technologies (Outbound Packaging Containers), Pain Enterprises Dry Ice, and Tegrant (packaging supplies). These vendors provide these goods and services within normal business operations.
Jobs Summary: Prior to the award of Modification 0003 to Contract No. 200-2009-28832, which allocated funds for additional doses of seasonal influenza vaccine with Recovery Act funds, MedImmune, LLC had already established its manufacturing/production schedule. This schedule already accounted for the development, manufacture, and production of a certain number of seasonal vaccine doses for sale and this was not changed as a result of the award. Therefore, we view the government's purchase, as a commercial 'off-the-shelf' item that was held in MedImmune's inventory and did not specifically result in the creation or retention of jobs.
