Award Description: This project will develop new statistical approaches for analysis of next-generation sequence data which is currently being generated to study genetic variation underlying important human disease traits. Our approaches will improve statistical techniques for identifying sequence variation in individuals and for relating specific variants to disease status. Our methods have the potential to identify functionally important variants that can be used in diagnosis and prediction and as a basis for novel translational therapies for human genetic diseases.
