Award Description: Grant - This award provides funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to the State of California to capitalize its revolving loan fund for financing the construction of drinking water facilities, green infrastructure, program administration and drinking water related activities. The primary purposes of the agreement are to preserve and create job and promote economic recovery through the investment in infrastructure projects that will provide long term public health and economic benefit, preserve and create jobs, and promote economic recovery.
Project Description: CDPH-SDWSRF-ARRA is providing 49 public water systems (PWS) with grants, combined in some cases with low interest loans, to enable the PWS to comply with public health based drinking water standards and to achieve water conservation objectives. Thus far 38 projects for approximately $113M have been funded, including new water sources, water treatment, distribution system replacement, water storage, and customer metering (which encourages water conservation).
