Award Description: Environmental Assessment of Brownfields Properties located within the City of Cocoa's designated Brownfields Area.
Project Description: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will be used by the City of Cocoa to conduct community-wide assessments at brownfields sites which are potentially contaminated with petroleum and hazardous substances. The award recepient may also develop a site inventory and prioritize sites for Phase I and/or Phase II assessments. Funds may also be used for public outreach, community involvement, and cleanup/reuse planning activities.
Jobs Summary: During this quarter, .25 jobs were sustained through the awarding of this grant. The retained jobs include staff positions for the daily management of this grant as well as supervisory positions in the Community Development Department. Staff positions were also retained as part of the Request for Qualifications Process to select the two Environmental Engineering Consultants who will be providing assessment and characterization services for this Grant.
