Award Description: Environmental Assessment of Brownfields Properties located within the City of Cocoa's designated Brownfields Area.
Project Description: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will be used by the City of Cocoa to conduct community-wide assessments at brownfields sites which are potentially contaminated with petroleum and hazardous substances. The award recepient may also develop a site inventory and prioritize sites for Phase I and/or Phase II assessments. Funds may also be used for public outreach, community involvement, and cleanup/reuse planning activities.

The retained jobs include staff positions for the daily management of this grant as well as supervisory positions in the Community Development Department.
