Award Description: Law Enforcement Initiatives for the City of Abilene, Texas and Taylor County. The Abilene Police Department and the Taylor County Sheriff's Department will utilize grant funds to purchase law enforcement equipment to enhance communication capabilities. These funds will be used to replace current mobile video systems with digital systems in order to be compliant with state law that requires law enforcement vehicles to be equipped with video and audio recording systems.
Project Description: The City of Abilene Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff's Department will utilize funds for law enforcement equipment to enhance communication capabilities. The Abilene Police Department will be replacing the mobile video systems in its patrol fleet with digital systems in order to be in compliance with state law. This quarter, the MVR Committee has reviewed several vendor demonstrations.
