Award Description: To conduct enviromental assessment activities at the brownfields properties located in the City of Durham, North Carolina.
Project Description: Community-wide Assessment Grants (including Coalition) American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will be used by THE CITY OF DURHAM, NC to conduct community-wide assessments at brownfields sites which are potentially contaminated with petroleum and hazardous substances. The award recipient may also develop a site inventory and prioritize sites for Phase I and/or Phase II assessments. Funds may also be used for public outreach, community involvement, and cleanup/reuse planning activities. Quarterly Activities: • Developed Ordinance for City Council to Authorize to Execute Assistance Agreement (July 16, 2009) • Region 4 Grantee Workshops in Asheville, NC, attended by Contractor (July 20 – 22, 2009) • Executed Assistance Agreement (July 27, 2009) • Developed Recommendation to City Council to Modify existing Contract with Concurrent Technologies Corp (August 6, 2009) • Developed Contract Modification and Approved by City Council (August 17, 2009) • Submitted Revised Work Plan per EPA review and comments (August 31, 2009) • Participated in Kick-off meeting with EPA Region 4 and NCDENR personnel (September 15 & 16, 2009) • Executed Contract Modification with CTC (September 22, 2009) • Participated in EPA Headquarters ARRA Conference Call and Presentation (September 29, 2009)
