Award Description: The Port Authority was awarded a national Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program Grant in order to fund the shore power installation at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Brooklyn, NY. This project will install land-side electrical infrastructure, with the general purpose of the grant being to reduce diesel emissions from the ships onboard generators and to improve the overall air quality.

Project Description: Have completed the Stage 1 design and cost estimate. Have started the Stage 3 and RFP, but have put it on hold until issues with ConEd are resolved. These issues involved the N+2 reguirement, which is redundant, as well as the issue with putting in 5 isolation transformers. These requirement from ConEd is adding an additional 6 million to the project costs. The Port Authority Plans to address these items with ConEd by arranging a meeting with upper management (Executive Director, CEO, etc) to resolve the N+2 requirement. Also planned to negotiate electrical rates with NYPA and Carnival Cruise lines.
