Award Description: This Recovery Act grant will support, sustain and expand the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The awarding of these fuinds will allow for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office (which is the lead agency for the Ohio ICAC) to hire two new ICAC assigned staff. Theses two staff will be located in Cuyahoga County. Also, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office will partner with the Ohio Attorney Generals Office to allow that agency to hire four ICAC - assigned staff that will be located in Central and Southern Ohio. The increase in staff size will allow for broader, statewide investigations which will target high volume child pornography traders. With these additional Ohio ICAC staff in place, investigations will occur quicker, prosecutions will increase and as a result, Ohio children will become safer. The Ohio ICAC Task Force will report on the number of Cyber-Tip investigations, Peer-to-Peer investigations and computer forensic investigations conducted by these new employees.
Project Description: The initial steps towards expansion of the Ohio ICAC Task Force staff were taken this past Quarter. The job descriptions were created and job interviews place. While no one was hired during the three months which ended on Spetember 30th, however positions have been offered and the first ARRA hires will begin in mid-October.
