Award Description: Jag stimulus funding engages a partnership between the City of Buffalo and 11 suburban law enforcement partners focusing on crime reduction through job creation/preservation; purchasing equipment and technology and community initiatives that promote safety partnerships between the police and the community. Project Description: During this quarter, the City of Buffalo was mutually chosen as the lead applicant for the JAG Stimulus Funding among the 11 law enforcement partners. Strategies and budgets were determined, the grant application was written and submitted, and the processes for the award acceptance were completed. Major deliverables for this grant include: Overtime for selective enforcement/tactical patrol, job creation in criminal justice agencies and within community-based service providers; a juvenile intervention program and re-entry services, along with purchase of equipment/technology for improving interoperable communications, replacing obsolete and unserviceable equipment and correcting serious safety deficiencies.
